DanceDroid boot animation makes you want to reboot HTC EVO more often
There still isn't a way to gain root access to Froyo on the HTC EVO, but since there are rooted Froyo builds (only good for people who did not apply the unofficial or official 2.1 update) floating around, I wanted to briefly shine the spotlight on this DanceDroid animation that was originally put together by xda-dev's wrx4memp (using frames ripped from a video clip) and later packaged into a bona fide boot animation by faster3200.
The animation isn't complete, according to wrx4memp, but I think it looks pretty awesome as is and would love to see it on my EVO instead of the stock HTC/Sprint bootscreen. I've already watched this animated GIF for longer than I care to admit! I even tried to load it onto my rooted Dell Streak, but it didn't work (user error, I'm sure).
The boot animation that faster3200 made includes Michael Jackson's "Bad," but you can use anything you want by renaming your desired music file SPC_animation_final.mp3 and pushing it to /system/customize/resource/. I suppose you could also move it using Root Explorer.
If you don't like the black bars, wrx4memp is working on a nicer version that includes a disco ball and spans the entire length of the screen. He's pressed for time at the moment, though, so it's unknown when the final version (46 frames) will be available.
