Dell Streak slowly disappearing from company website

Streak-no-results

It was less than two weeks ago that the Dell Streak got its official product page, buyers could sign up for a pre-sale opportunity that was originally scheduled for the last week in July, and the device occupied the top spot on the company's home page. Even though the slate would be running Android 1.6 when it was released and would be incompatible with T-Mobile's 3G network, many people in the US were still excited that their long wait to get the Streak in their hands would soon be over.

But then things started to change. The Streak lost its spot on Dell's home page. The pre-sale sign-up was closed (because the device would be available for purchase the next day) and then re-opened (because it wasn't). All mentions of a late-July release were edited or completely removed. A company rep feigned ignorance and said that the Streak wouldn't go on sale in July. Prices were posted and then pulled.

And now a search for "dell streak" on the Dell website yields no product results. The pre-sale and product page are still up if you visit them directly, but who else but people like us would know the URL?

Update: The pre-sale page appears in the search results now.
