Shortly after the HTC EVO 4G's release in June, reports of hairline cracks near the power button began to surface. The cracks were occurring on devices that had not been dropped or bumped; they were just happening. Some EVOs were getting small cracks near the volume buttons as well, but the most common area was by the power button.
More than two months later, users with hardware versions 0002 and 0003 continue to report the problem on various forums (e.g., xda-developers, PPCGeeks, Android Central, Smartphone Junkie). None of the cracks have worsened over time (not yet, anyway) but given the EVO's previous screen separation and touchscreen responsiveness issues, it's obvious that build quality isn't what it should be.
Having said that, though, my EVO (version 0003) is crack-free. What about yours?
Thanks, Bishop!
