Toshiba Libretto W100 standard battery vs extended battery

Libretto-w100-batteries (1)

The Japanese version of the Toshiba Libretto W100, now shipping from Conics, comes with both the standard and extended batteries included in the box.

The standard battery (1180mAh, 14.4V, 18Wh) weighs 5.46 ounces, while the extended (2360mAh, 14.4V, 36Wh) tips the scales at 9.34 ounces. Neither is packed with enough power, especially considering that the W100 has two displays, so don't expect to be able to stray too far from an outlet for very long.

The standard battery is said to be good for about 2 hours of runtime, while the extended battery will call it quits in about 4 hours.

As you can see, the standard battery is flush with the rest of the W100 casing.

The same cannot be said for the extended battery, which actually doesn't look too bad for what it is. We've seen some rather unattractive ones in the past, so it's nice to see that this one doesn't add anything more than a little bulk on the bottom.
