Unlocked Dell Streak hits German market for 599 euros

Streak-germanyIt isn't listed on the company's Deutschland website as being available, but the Dell Streak can now be purchased in Germany.

The 16GB carbon black version of the device is being carried by select Media Markt locations. Media Markt is a large consumer electronics retailer with a reputation for its sense of humor (its main slogan is "I am not stupid"), but the Streak's 599€ (~$789) asking price there is no joke. This is the unlocked price, of course, and it's within the same range of what those in the UK are paying when the price isn't fluctuating, but reactions from German customers suggest that it's quite high. Unlocked phones never come cheap, though, so I don't think the local price is unreasonable. The converted-to-dollar price is high, yes, but straight conversions are rarely reflective of actual pricing in other regions.

I actually paid an exorbitant price for my UK Streak and only got a semi-reasonable price on the US beta version because of the seller's inaccurate description, so even the converted Media Markt price doesn't faze me.

Thanks, SVShane!
