Dell Streak headed down under, available in Australia next week

Australia-map-flag The wait is finally over for our friends down under.

Starting October 1st, the Dell Streak will be available in Australia exclusively from Optus. Unlike in the US, where the device is sold for $299 with a two-year contract with AT&T, it will cost absolutely nothing when Aussies sign up for a two-year AU$59/month plan. Off-contract, however, the Streak will be AU$649 (~US$616), which is more than the $549 it costs here in the states.

Optus expects the device to "hit the sweet spot" between traditional smartphones and tablet PCs, so let's hope the carrier will market it that way.
