Good and EVO

HTC EVO 4G likely to benefit from leaked HTC Desire HD ROM

Evo-desirehd-newsense

Although we only really care about the HTC EVO 4G here at G&E, one reason to keep an eye on all the other Android phones out there is that many of their best software features can be ported to the EVO. While hardware limitations will eventually come into play, right now the EVO can still keep up fairly well with the faster CPUs and more powerful GPUs being tucked inside newer devices.

This is why the system dump that xda-developer's dealer75 was able to obtain from the unreleased HTC Desire HD could lead to lots of new goodies for the EVO. Some features may not make it over to our side, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect the revamped Car Panel, HTC Locations app, camera app that includes filters/effects, new widgets and live wallpapers (if any), ebook store integration, and/or some of the other HTC Sense enhancements, if not the whole UI. We might actually get an official Sense update at some point, but since sooner is better than later, I'll be watching this closely.

[xda-developers] Thanks, Ne2!
