If you're an unofficial tester, however, then you may not have known that the trial period was nearing its end. The only way you'd see the message I screen-capped on the right is if you switched to Swype from another keyboard; if you're already using it, then you would think the keyboard simply stopped working properly over the weekend. Pressing the keys individually still works, but swiping across the keyboard (the whole point of Swype) doesn't.
I haven't been keeping track of how many different versions are floating around for people to install, but the trial period of the old 1.56.30.7625 build of Swype I had been using for months is over. The latest version, which is what I'm using now, works perfectly on the EVO and G&E reader Kevin says that version 1.60.36.8214 still works too.
Swype (the company) is pretty vigilant about hunting down unlicensed distribution of its software, which is why many forums have a "no Swype links" policy in place, so I'm going to have to leave it up to you and Google to find whichever .apk you want.
I know I'm not the only one who can't wait for Swype to shake off its beta label and just get in the Market already.
