Unfortunately, we have still not received an essay from this finalist (the deadline was Friday, 9/24) or an explanation or even an excuse about the cause of the delay. The finalist is still in possession of the Viliv N5 loaned to him by Dynamism for the purpose of writing the essay and has, of course, wasted an opportunity that another entrant would have been glad to have, so this person is obviously disqualified from the contest. There was no way to predict this turn of events, as we would have never knowingly chosen a "flight risk" as a finalist, but we share your disappointment and frustration in the outcome.
Starting tomorrow, then, voting for the two submitted essays will begin and continue through Saturday. The person whose essay receives the most votes will win a free Viliv N5. The runner-up will receive $300 off the purchase of an N5 from Dynamism, and five randomly selected commenters will receive $50 Dynamism-Gizmine gift cards.
All winners will be announced on Monday, October 4th.
