StreamTV Elocity A7 now available for pre-order on Amazon for $370

It looks like StreamTV has kept its word and means business because its impressive eLocity A7 tablet has now become available for pre-order on Amazon for a tempting $369.99; the original retail price is listed as $429.99. This is a very positive development for the company and its product, giving hope for a wide release right around the corner. The fact that the pre-order price undercuts the original target price of $399 makes it even better.

Being a rebranded Compal NAZ-10, the Elocity A7 looks to be a very impressive piece of hardware and great value for money on paper, with the powerrful Tegra 250 chipset powering proceedings with its 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 core and nVidia GPU, a 7-inch WVGA capacitive touch screen supporting multi-touch, Android 2.2 Froyo OS, 512MB RAM, 1.3MP front-facing webcam, microSD support, USB and HDMI ports, and WiFi connectivity. The only major downside is the lack of official Android Market support, as the A7 doesn’t go down the increasingly common route of integrating full phone functionality like the Samsung Galaxy Tab and ViewSonic ViewPad 7 to meet Google’s hardware requirements. Nevertheless, the Elocity A7 looks to be a promising entry into the tablet market with the combination of powerful hardware and a reasonable price being very tempting. Anyone planning to take the plunge?
