BayScribe selects Dell Streak as “preferred dictation device”

Streak-bayscribe Following up on Dell's announcement about the Streak's integration into healthcare solutions, BayScribe has chosen the 5-inch phone/tablet as its "preferred dictation device" for its BayScribe Mobile app.

BayScribe is the healthcare industry's only cloud-based clinical documentation system, so while BayScribe Mobile's availability may not mean a whole lot to most of us, it does mean something to a specialized group of people. It's important to Dell as well, who is working with BayScribe to optimize the app's performance on the Streak and to try to incorporate relevant apps already available on Android like barcode scanners.

BayScribe thinks the Streak will be of "particular interest to clinicians noting the size, speed, battery life and general usability." Those all sound like generic reasons to favor the Streak to me, as several physicians I've spoken to about the device's potential use in their profession were skeptical of its value over something like an iPad, Windows-based Tablet PC, or any other high-end Android phone. Either way, it's always nice to see the Streak getting some (niche) press.
