Dell Streak ships from Best Buy on October 15th, in stores on 24th

Streak-bb-oct15

An hour after I mentioned the Dell Streak's quasi-presence on the Best Buy website, the product page went live with no surprises. Price, color, and storage capacity are identical to what Dell.com has been selling to US customers for months (customers in other countries pay lower subsidized prices and have the red device and preloaded 32GB card to choose from), so there isn't a whole lot of incentive to purchase the Streak from the Best Buy site. Depending on which page you're looking at, the Android tablet will ship on October 15th or "in 3 – 4 business days." The preliminary ship date from Dell.com is also the 15th, so I guess most people will make their choice based on whichever site has better coupons/promotions.

Several hours after the product page went up, an image from a Best Buy ad surfaced that revealed the date the Streak would be in stores: October 24th. That's a Sunday, by the way, so anyone who's been waiting to play with the device in person before buying won't have to call in sick or leave work early to get to the store during the week. Well, I guess some people may end up calling in sick on Monday after staying up all night to play with their new Streak.

I've never paid any attention to Best Buy's release patterns before, but it seems strange that the release dates are so close together.
