Samsung Tab priced not to sell

10x10019u2b3rew77In my post earlier today, I stated that I did not expect the Samsung Tab to put up much of a fight against the iPad in the tablet market due to rumors about a high price. Little did I know just how right I was. A press release just crossed my desk announcing the Samsung Tab’s availability on US carrier Verizon as of November, for a cool $599. That is without a data plan.

Yeah, right.

It appears that Samsung has done the noble and silly thing of stepping up to be the first (and still only) potential rival the iPad guts and hangs from the ramparts of your local Best Buy. Sad, really. It looks like it would be a sweet piece of kit if it were $299. For $599? It looks like an OQO.

Check out the entire post mortem press release after the jump.
