List of Dell Streak versions that can currently upgrade to official Android 2.2

Froyo Since there's quite a bit of confusion out there about which versions of the Dell Streak can make use of the currently available official Android 2.2 update, I'd like to use this post to compile what I hope will become a definitive list of upgrade success stories.

Obviously, if your Streak gets the official software update notification, which is only being rolled out to unlocked devices right now, then you will have no problem running through the update process and installing Froyo. All you need to do is follow the on-screen instructions and you should be golden. For eager Streak users who don't want to wait for Dell to give them the update, however, a reference list of which versions have been able to install the update manually should be helpful.

It's very sparse at the moment and based solely on my own personal experience and the comments left on StreakSmart, so please help me beef it up by letting me know the following information if you have successfully installed the update:

  • Your country and carrier (if any)
  • Streak's original OS and final two digits of baseband (00, 21, or 31)
  • Any other ROMs you installed
  • Last OS and final two digits of baseband of your Streak immediately before successfully installing the official Froyo update

I'll update this post accordingly.

To keep things as organized as possible, please do not leave a comment asking whether the update will work with your particular version, how to get it working, or anything else that does not pertain to a successful update. All known versions that can install the currently available update will be in the list.

You'll notice right away that a 00 baseband is generally needed to install the update (not surprising considering that Dell has released the update exclusively for unlocked devices); there are some other variations (e.g., many people have been able to install it right over the O2 2.1 update with 21 baseband), though, so I think the list is still useful.

If your original baseband ends in 00, you should be able to visit this link from your Streak (or download the update package directly) and install the update without issue. Other users may have to install the update manually.
