Evervolv ROM delivers AOSP Gingerbread to HTC EVO
As long as you can live with some little pieces of raw dough in your gingerbread, then you can have Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) up and running on your rooted HTC EVO right now.
Over the weekend, preludedrew served up his new Evervolv-AOSP ROM, which he compiled from the Gingerbread source code that was released last week.
The alpha build is by no means meant to be a fully cooked ROM in its current state, but it's quite good as is (all things considered) and of course shows a lot of promise. It isn't quite ready to be used as a daily driver just yet, in my opinion, but it's functional enough to at least give you a taste of Gingerbread on the EVO (screenshots from NewZJ here).
There have already been several updates to the ROM since its release, so preludedrew is obviously working very quickly to get everything working. The latest version (as of this writing) is 1.0.0a7 and based on the feedback from those who have tried it, it sounds really usable. Early speed issues have been fixed, all the Google apps are there, and most of the radios appear to be working too.
Anyone try it?
