Gameloft giving HTC EVO free HD game with purchase of another game

Evo-gameloft-bogo (1) Following up on the decision to offer free trials of its HD games to HTC EVO owners, Gameloft is now giving some of these games away free as part of a new "Buy One, Get One Free" promotion.

The deal is exclusive to the EVO and Samsung Epic 4G and is only available over 3G. According to Gameloft, you need to go into the Sprint Zone app, scroll down to the "Suggested Apps" section, then tap "More" -> "Gameloft HD Games." This will take you to wapshop.gameloft.com/us/sprintchannel/hdplus, where you'll see the BOGO banner shown in the screenshot.

Alternatively, you could just skip Sprint Zone altogether (you probably deleted it anyway) and go straight to gameloft.com on your EVO. You'll be automatically redirected to the aforementioned URL.

If you visit the site over WiFi or 4G, you can sometimes click on the banner and browse the games but when you actually try to purchase one, you'll see that the "buy one, get one free" offer isn't available anymore. In other words, although Gameloft is lying about needing to go through Sprint Zone, it's telling the truth about having to use 3G.

Games that are available for free are:

  • N.O.V.A. (Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance) HD
  • Dungeon Hunter HD
  • Let's Golf! 2 HD
  • Let's Golf! HD
  • Gangstar: West Coast Hustle HD
  • Hero of Sparta HD
  • Modern Combat: Sandstorm HD

Games that are not available for free are:

  • UNO HD
  • Real Soccer 2010 HD
  • Asphalt 5 HD
  • Assassin's Creed – Altair's Chronicles HD
  • Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X HD
  • James Cameron's Avatar HD

These games cost $4.99 each. The "free" games cost $4.99 each too, so you can buy any game you want to qualify for a free one.

The promotion will "run through the holidays," so I assume you have a few more weeks to decide which games you want.
