HTC Home clock puts part of HTC EVO on Windows PC

So you've already got HTC EVO posters plastered all over your bedroom wall, your closet is full of HTC EVO T-shirts, and you've stopped talking to anyone who doesn't have an HTC EVO. You love the EVO. We get it. But do you have the HTC clock widget from your EVO keeping track of the time and weather on your Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer?

If you want to be the EVO's #1 fan, then you better grab the free HTC Home flip clock widget (not affiliated with HTC) for your 32-bit or 64-bit Vista or Win7 PC.  It comes with weather animations, a 5-day forecast strip, Aero Glass support, different sizes, and custom fonts. It also gives you an excuse to show off your EVO when someone asks you about that cool clock on your desktop.

To get HTC Home on your Windows Vista/7 PC, download and extract the .zip file (link below) to any directory of your choosing.

Then just double-click on HTCHome or HTCHome (x64) and the widget will appear on your desktop.

Right-click on the widget to access the settings. Tailor to your liking.

Now you're one step closer to being the world's biggest HTC EVO (with Sense UI) fan.

[HTC Home] Thanks, Gary!

  • i will tell you this, if you’re in a corporate environment, don’t install this as the team that is responsible for internet security will come to you very quickly as the packets this Jewell sends out, looks like spyware to the firewall. Just an fyi…it took them less than 5 mins to come to me and say, “What did you install? Remove it now!”

Out of curiosity, are there other forms of clock/date/weather modifications that can be made to Windows 7?

Yea, turned out to be some sort of weird Malware/Spyware, riddled with errors and popups of the cryptic kind.

It was pretty cool looking though for the 5 minutes I used it…but alas…uninstalled :(

Some things are too good to be true unfortunately…

  • Don’t believe shrewd code monkey would leave malware trace in the source code.

Noticed code does have remote calls back to http://* Could calling it like malware/spyware causing false positive.

  • Doesn’t work for me at all with Vista, says not a valid win32 file everytime after download when trying to install –

  • I have Vista and it worked for me.

So what is the verdict? Dangerous or not?

  • It is safe. I’ve been using this at home for several month, and with each version it just gets better.

  • can someone post the direct link to the download for vista 64bit

very safe… not malware at all. I use it daily and am very happy.

  • seems like the site doesn’t even exist anymore, anyone else having issues …

  • Anyone else getting an error on the website when clicking this link:

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Too many connections in /var/www/artem/data/www/ on line 47

Warning: mysql_select_db(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /var/www/artem/data/www/ on line 48
    Site error

  • Just tried it again, and it worked.

Works well on Win7-64 Home,No virus or malware alarms here.

  • If you browse his site you’ll find a version 2RC and some widgets that add Favorites. Media Player and the HTC Calendar. However, I’ve been getting some errors with it. Maybe someone else will have better luck. And post back.

IMO this App is EVIL. it had a mind of its own and it seemed to slow down my Win7 system. and it was a REAL PAIN to try to uninstall. i actually had to to a RESTORE on my PC to get rid of this thing. BEWARE!

Well then I guess it is a good thing I can’t get the site to load

  • Why are some ppl having so many problems with this? I got it up and running on my comp with no probs on the first try and have been using it ever since. It’s so sweet!
