Is your HTC EVO suffering from random reboots?

Evo-reboot

G&E reader Jon wrote in to tell me about a problem that some HTC EVO users are having with random reboots. He said:

The issue dates back to the June launch, but since October more and more people are experiencing random reboots. Once it starts, it gets worse and worse until the phone is almost unusable. Some people have exchanged their defective phones at Sprint for "new" (refurb) phones that do the same thing. It's important to point out that [this] can affect any EVO user: stock or rooted, heavy or light use, any ROM, any screen, any radio, any battery.

Have you had any problems with random reboots?

I've heard my EVO rebooting all by itself before (that tell-tale boot-up sound is unmistakable from another room) and even caught it in the act once, but I can count on just one hand how many times it's happened.

As for what causes the phone to reboot itself, no one seems to know for sure. There are a number of theories and possible solutions at the link below, but what works for some doesn't always work for others.
