HTC EVO Shift piggybacks on EVO 4G commercial

Evo-shift-commercial

Since the HTC EVO 4G and EVO Shift 4G are family and families are supposed to share things, I guess using an abbreviated version of an existing EVO commercial and then tacking on the EVO Shift at the very end makes sense and is more cost-effective.

Instead of getting its own brand new commercial, the Shift 4G accepts a hand-me-down from its big brother and then tags along for the ride.

Given my personal feelings about the EVO Shift, however, I was unpleasantly surprised to see it pop up at the end of the ad like that. I actually really like that commercial and always try to see if I can read some of the other quotes in the background, so seeing the Shift 4G appear at the end of what starts out as a EVO 4G commercial almost made me gasp. The phone is described as "a smaller EVO with a slide-out keyboard," which I feel is a little misleading after all the positive quotes about the EVO 4G have just been shown.

Yes, the EVO name isn't synonymous with the EVO 4G anymore since it's now being used a brand, but I think the transition is too abrupt. Something like "the newest member of the EVO family" would make it more clear that the Shift 4G isn't literally the current 4G in a smaller frame and with a keyboard.
