Strictly Words puts text icons on HTC EVO home screen

If you're going for a minimalist look on the home screens of your HTC EVO 4G, then you probably aren't interested in replacing your app icons with colorful Android mascots. Awesome as they are, they may just be a little too "look at me!" for your understated tastes.

How about some custom shortcut icons that are all text instead? The recently released Strictly Words icon pack created by ubergeekinc makes it possible! There's a little over 60 common app icons available now, with more to come and requests being accepted at the xda-developers link below. There are black and white versions of each icon to choose from (one is bound to look better and be more visible/readable against your wallpaper), with additional colors like green, blue, and red on the horizon too.

These kinds of icons are better used with a launcher that lets you hide icon labels and choose how many columns and rows you want. If you just use Sense, then the text redundancies could end up looking cluttered.

Below: Sense on the left, ADW.Launcher on the right.

Need help using the icon pack? Refer to the tutorial for Sense users or use the "Custom Shortcut" option when you long press the home screen in ADW.Launcher and other third-party home replacements.
