Dell Streak drops to $49.99 at Best Buy

Dell-streak-50-bb

It's hard to believe that when the Dell Streak was released in the US back in August, it commanded an on-contract price of $299.99. By the end of 2010, the same AT&T-locked device preloaded with Android 1.6 had its price slashed by a whopping $200, becoming available at Best Buy for just $99.99. Dell.com followed suit a month later and now, another month later, the Streak has taken another step toward being given away for free.

Best Buy is now selling the device, which is unfortunately still running 1.6, for an all-time low of $49.99 with a new two-year contract.

Yeah, I smell the smoke from the fire sale too. But what's that rising out of the ashes? And will that phoenix turn out to be the Opus One, the rumored next-gen Streak originally expected in May but now looking like a 5" Honeycomb tablet coming out in Q1 of 2012?

[Best Buy] Thanks, Brian!
