Xoom shipping soon….without Flash

- for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

The irony is hard to miss. Android tablet manufacturers love pointing out how crippled the iPad is without Flash support, to the degree that they’re basing their marketing on it. Turns out that someone forgot to put Flash support in the Xoom as well, as a Verizon banner has revealed that Flash won’t be added until “Spring 2011”. I’m guessing that by the time any tablets with out-of-the-box Flash are released the Xoom has it too, but it’s still quite a bomb to drop on people a couple of days before release. It’s likely a result of some technical difficulty that they didn’t manage to fix in time, and unlike Apple they don’t have the luxury to wait around as 10 other identical products will be out by the time they fix it if they do. If you ask me, the Xoom is better off without that awful technology, and it’s still an interesting tablet without it.
