Amazon Appstore almost goes live, 48 apps already waiting for HTC EVO

Amazon-appstore

The Amazon Appstore is expected to open its doors for business any day now (most likely on or before March 22nd, when Angry Birds Rio is supposed to be released), but yesterday Frank of androidnews.de managed to sneak in by harmlessly visiting amazon.com/apps "just for funzies."

The URL redirects to the Amazon homepage now but it previously showed the screenshot you see above (click for larger view), with a horizontal slider showing 4 apps for the HTC EVO and the rest of the Android army at a time. A total of 48 apps were viewable on the site at the time and though clicking on any of them took you right back to the homepage, the listing provided a preview of what's to come. Angry Birds Rio wasn't there, but the Appstore (yes, it's one word) did have a few other titles currently not in the Market like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Force Recon ($2.99) and Highborn ($0.99). Some of the other titles were priced lower than their counterparts in the Market (e.g., Vignette: $2.49 in Appstore, $4.02 in Market).

Here's a list of the apps that were in the Appstore as of yesterday:

It's obviously unclear as to whether these apps and prices will be accurate when the Amazon Appstore launches, but we should all find out for sure very soon.
