HTC EVO 3D to get case with kickstand shortly after launch
No doubt anticipating the uproar over the fact that the HTC EVO 3D doesn't have a kickstand like the EVO 4G, HTC showed up at CTIA with a prototype of a case they've developed with what appears to be a very sturdy metal stand built into it. Nothing about the case you see above has been finalized (price, release date, design), but it's expected to be available for purchase soon after the EVO 3D hits the shelves this summer.
Since there are already a handful of third-party EVO 4G cases that have integrated kickstands out there (not all cases include a cutout for the real one), I'm sure HTC's offering won't be the only EVO 3D case we see that puts back what the company had to remove when designing the phone.
Workaround accessories aside, why did HTC remove the kickstand in the first place? Because the only way to keep the device's weight/size down while adding a bigger battery and an extra camera was to get rid of it. According to a Sprint rep at CTIA, "there wasn't room for it."
