iPad 2 gets professionally installed in a car
Remember a few years back when “Pimp My Ride” was on TV? As a DIY geek I loved the show and it was watched by many, as well as being the source of an Internet meme starring Xzibit that I still make references to that no one understands. It ended before its time though, or should I say, before the age of tablets. Companies still do what they did on that show though, just without the TV crew around. SoundMan Car Audio has taken their customization business online and are doing videos of their custom installs. On iPad 2 launch day, they sent one guy off to buy an iPad 2 while a few others worked on a mount for it for a Ford F-150 truck. We’re not talking velcro and loose cables with this one, instead we’re talking custom fiber glass panels for the dash and hidden dock connectors and audio/charging splitters that result in something that looks like it was in there from the factory. They even have their own web series showing various installs, as well as several iPad 1 installation videos. Definitely worth browsing their site and maybe borrow some idea for an install of your own.
