iPad 2 + swivel chair = win

As some of you might remember, I had high hopes for the iPad 2’s gyroscope. Naturally now that I have an iPad 2 I had to try playing N.O.V.A 2 HD on it using the gyroscope (a couple of Fling controllers are on their way, no thanks to Ten One Design). Verdict: it’s awesome. Much easier to play when you free up one thumb for fire control, but also a lot more fun- especially if you have a swivel chair. To see why, you have to watch the video above (pay attention to the background behind the iPad (the wall) it’s hard to see at first but further into the video you can see it. DIdn’t have anyone to film me playing so this is the best I could do, sorry). If you think it looks clumsy and hard, keep in mind this was my absolute first try at using a gyroscope, not to mention I had a camera tripod literally on my lap and in front of my face. Also, you don’t HAVE to swivel to turn your character around- you can still use the on-screen invisible analog stick, as well as turn up the sensitivity (like I do in the beginning). The former is the way they mean for you to turn around, though, since higher sensitivity still requires turning the iPad a bit.
