BlackBerry PlayBook may launch in US this month instead

Blackberry-Playbook

Pocket-lint reports on a one-to-one briefing they had with Steven Bates, RIM's MD from the UK, in which they were told that the BlackBerry PlayBook would be hitting the US this month, and the UK sometime in Q2 of 2011.

Bates told the website that the reason for the staggered worldwide launch is part of a winning strategy for RIM. "We had one for BlackBerry Torch," he said, "and it worked quite nicely.”

Of course, we've all heard that the PlayBook will actually be launched next month, but hopefully this RIM executive knows something about his own product.
