I have tried many different ROMs on my HTC EVO 4G, but I keep coming back to Fresh by flipz. It’s simple and fast, which are the two most important factors I consider when choosing a new ROM.
The latest version is 3.5.01 and it’s based on the most recent OTA software update (3.70.651.1). Fresh does exactly what you would expect from a clean ROM; it looks like the original Sprint stock ROM but it removes all the bloatware.
What if you want some features back like Sprint Navigation? No problem. All of the original Sprint files are safely stored in a folder on your EVO’s microSD card called fresh-removed-apks-3 so that you can install whatever you want. There are also apps like Swype, ES File Explorer, and Wireless Tether preloaded.
You can flash Riptide9’s ColorNClear theme if you want to change the stock appearance of Fresh, or you can leave it untouched for the clean factory look.
I use the 3500mAh extended battery by Seidio on my EVO so I don’t have to worry about runtime, but even so, battery life on this ROM seems good.
I love testing out ROMs on my EVO. I have tried just about every one out there, but I just can’t stay away from Fresh. It just seems cleaner and faster than the rest.
