Sprint teams up with Google to bring tight Voice integration

Googlevoice_sprint Just over two years ago, Google introduced a new service to its customers. This service, Google Voice, originally allowed consumers to port their number to a web-based app for easy communication virtually anywhere. You had to have a landline for the service to work, however, which was a major downer for anyone who thinks that a landline is useless.

Sprint and Google heard those users' pain and has announced that soon, when you buy a new Android phone on Sprint, its number will be your Google Voice number too.

This method gets rid of that nasty porting and also applies to existing customers, which is a very nice way to expose new people to the service.

As landlines become more and more obsolete, and people start to have more than one mobile phone, it's nice to see companies such as Google and Sprint taking it into their own hands to make it easier for consumers to make the transition.
