T-Mobile has always had very competitive smartphone packages for both on-contract and off-contract devices. In fact, that's one of the reasons many people have longed for the iPhone to be on the carrier for so long.
But when AT&T announced the ubiquitous merger with T-Mobile, a lot of these frugal consumers were frightened to learn what this would mean for their plans. Until today, that is. Ralph de la Vega, the CEO of AT&T's Mobility branch, stated that T-Mobile's pricing will not change throughout this year. Of course, this doesn't really describe what's going to happen to T-Mobile's pricing (or T-Mobile itself) when the merger is complete, but I guess it's comforting for existing customers who keep a close eye on their monthly bills.
Beyond that, what will happen to T-Mobile? Will it become just a subsidiary of AT&T? Will it die out and take all of the pricing tiers along with it? We'll have to wait until this time next year to find out.
