ESPN Alerts no longer available for HTC EVO 4G users

Evo-espn-alerts Disappointing news, sports fans.

ESPN Alerts, a free service that many HTC EVO owners used to receive text messages containing "news, scores, important fantasy happenings, and major event updates" tailored to their personal preferences (e.g., favorite teams, different sports, alert frequencies and timing, etc.) is no longer available on Sprint.

G&E reader Brian, who received the text message from ESPN shown here, has relied and enjoyed the service to stay up-to-date with many seasons of fantasy football. Score updates were consistently sent out sooner by ESPN Alerts than by Yahoo Live Scores and other sports apps that provide push notifications, he said, so the sudden and seemingly permanent loss of Sprint support has obviously left him looking for an alternative.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Brian!
