First preview of WebOS 3.0 pops up
The above video features a 19 minute walkthrough of WebOS 3.0, the OS that HP is putting on the coming Palm tablet. It was made using a WebOS emulator and a beta build of the OS which is now available to some developers, so not a real tablet, but it’s pretty representative for the OS either way. Those of you waiting for the HP tablet should definitely sit through the 19 minutes to see what’s coming. Also check out the original source of this video, which features an incredibly detailed written preview of the OS.
Personally I have little faith in WebOS succeeding. Not because of the OS itself, but because they need to get third party developers on board to make apps in order to have half a chance at success. With the iPad on top, Honeycomb behind it and presumably Blackberry OS in third, WebOS will take the fourth place (possibly fighting for third) in the tablet market and the question is how many developers will bother making 4 versions of their apps. Still, there are users out there for any device, so maybe they will make it.
