First Smart Cover compatible cases pop up
When the new Smart Cover for the iPad 2 were announced, two things were very certain: third party manufacturers would use the sleep/wake function themselves, and third party manufacturers would make cases that let you use the Smart Cover along side the case, rather than instead of it. The sleep/wake thing has been done with 100 cases by now, but the AViiQ Smart Case is the first I’ve seen that does the latter.
The case is made of anodized aluminum and plastic and will come in every color the Smart Cover comes in. It has an opening on the left side of the case where the magnetic Smart Cover hinge snaps on, which is all you really need to make a case Smart Cover compatible- that plus making sure the top of the case doesn’t get in the way. The color selection is a nice touch though! The case is currently up for pre-order for $50, bringing the total cost of a Smart Bundle up to $90- more than many would pay for a case, for sure.
