Grand Jury is looking into privacy on iOS and Android

Pandora has just disclosed that they were issued a subpoena by a grand jury that forced them to gather information about privacy; more specifically, how applications can gather user information in both iOS and Android.

The company made clear that they were not breaking any laws and that they were not a subject of the investigation. Even though they're involvement is somewhat limited, Pandora still cannot disclose exactly what kind of information they are providing the jury.

We also do not know what applications are the target of the probe. Pandora has said that they believe "certain popular applications" are being targeted, and it will be interesting to find out what they are. It seems like a good thing that a grand jury is looking into mobile privacy, but it is also unsettling because it means there is cause for concern.
