LEDs Hack turns off HTC EVO capacitive button lights

Leds-hack

The HTC EVO 4G's capacitive button backlighting isn't blindingly bright or taxing on the battery, but if you've ever wanted to turn them off, then here's an oldie but goodie app to help you do it.

It's called LEDs Hack and yes, it's old news in Android time. It pre-dates the EVO's release by about 6 months or so, but it's free, it still works, and not everyone has heard of it before. Besides, just because something is old doesn't mean it can't still be in the limelight. App ageism isn't tolerated here!

The app requires root and will disable the bottom LEDs with a simple tap of the self-explanatory "LEDs Off" button. The "LEDs On" button will, of course, enable them again.

Unfortunately, the notification LEDs beneath the EVO's earpiece aren't affected by the "disable top LED" option in the preferences menu, so you'll need to turn those off yourself (Menu > Settings > Display > Notification flash).
