Changing LCD density in Honeycomb reveals hidden Gingerbread UI

Gb-in-hc-ui Over on StreakSmart, our dedicated Dell Streak sister site, most rooted Streak 7 users are anxiously awaiting the release of Android 3.x Honeycomb from DJ_Steve, the device's MVP developer. Great strides have been made so far, with evidence of 3.1 already running quite well on the dual-core tablet, but of particular interest to the Streak-less population out there (and the reason I'm writing about this here on Pocketables) is a discovery made on the Streak 7 that Honeycomb has a hidden Gingerbread (Android 2.3) UI within it.

And it can be very easily unhidden by simply changing the LCD density. Set it to 170 or higher, reboot, and you'll see all the graphical elements of Gingerbread (lock screen, dock, app drawer, keyboard, etc.); set it to 160 or lower and the Honeycomb you're used to will greet you after a reboot.

Don't believe it? Watch graffixnyc show it off on video on his Dell Streak 7 below.

Thanks, Jerry!
