Fujitsu is joining the 7-inch tablet party

Fujitsu-tabletWord on the street is that Fujitsu is getting ready to join the party with a 7-inch Android Honeycomb tablet of its own. Not much is known at this point, but the rumors suggest a Q3 2011 release and a price range between about $350 and $700, which suggests that 3G and WiFi-only varieties could be in the works. It's also not clear if this will be a slate or something like the LifeBook TH40/D Windows 7, which with a slide-out keyboard.

The one thing we know for sure is that 7-inch tablets are going to be around for a while. I have used my Samsung Galaxy Tab in so many places where a bigger device like my iPad 2 or Motorola Xoom would just be too big. The Tab's size hits the sweet spot for me.

Fujitsu is well known for building some good quality tablets, as I have used some in the past, but I would prefer to see more Honeycomb-specific apps than more Honeycomb tablets. Whatever the company has up its sleeve, I hope it won't wait too long to make an official announcement.
