Hacker ports Kindle 3 firmware to Kindle 2

It’s not often we see hacks for e-ink devices, mostly because they’re pretty locked down and “peculiar” compared to many other devices. They don’t really have the most advanced features either, so it’s not really all that necessary. A hacker named Yifanlu has made a nice hack though, porting the Kindle 3 firmware to the older Kindle 2 hardware. To do the upgrade you have to have both a Kindle 2 and a Kindle 3 so no magic upgrade for Kindle 2 owners, but I’m sure it will be useful for those who gave away their Kindle 2 to someone close when they bought a Kindle 3. The hack took a month and a half to do, so all credit to the hacker for sticking with it.
