KL Darts; nice idea, but the cake is a lie

KL Darts [$3.99 iPad app, free iPhone app] is a game that tries to mimic Nintendo Wii/Sony PlayStation Move functionality on the iPad by using an iPhone (or iPod touch) as a game controller. Unfortunately the iPhone (especially not the older gyroscope-lacking models) doesn’t have the sensors it needs in order to function the way you’d hope, and the result is pretty pathetic. It’s a nice “proof of somewhat working concept”, but as you’ll see from the video above it isn’t much to write home about. Other games use iPhones as game controllers with more success though, and I hope that this sort of dual device setup catches on. After all, quite a few iPad wielding users carry iPhones, and the same can be said for Android tablet users with Android phones. In theory, cross platform would also be possible.
