Get daily notifications on HTC EVO about free paid apps in Amazon Appstore

If there are days that you inadvertently forget to check the Amazon Appstore to see which paid app is being offered for free, then RaueSoft's Amazon Free App Reminder ($0.99) is the latest must-have app for your HTC EVO.

As its name suggests, it sends you a reminder—in the form of a standard notification—at the time of your choosing every day of the app currently up for grabs. The notification displays the title, developer, and usual price of the app, which is often cut off due to the size of the text (you can get around this by changing the LCD density). Tapping the notification sends you to the Appstore's main page, where you can then tap the "Get It" button to download the app.

The notification icon could use some prettying up and there's a lot of inconsistency about what the app is really called, but it works well and does exactly what it's meant to do.

In addition to the taskbar icon, you can also configure the notification to give your EVO a quick thrill, make it flash the LED, or let out a sound. It's typical notification stuff but handy nonetheless.

So what if it's listed as "Amazon Free App Reminder" in the Market, "Appstore Reminder" in the app, and "Free App of the Day Notifier" in Settings? You know which app it is.
