iOS 5’s AirPlay mirroring in action

Those of you who dug deep into iOS 5’s features the other day might have seen a short mention of an update to AirPlay, essentially giving it the same capabilities as the Apple AV adapter– that is, screen mirroring or external display capabilities throughout the OS (on the iPad 2 only). This will allow yuo to share anything you do on the big screen, including extended display capable apps such as Real Racing 2 which could certainly do without the HDMI dongle hanging from the docking port. The above video shows the feature in action, though it doesn’t show off any of the apps that really benefit from it. An Apple TV is $99 in the US which isn’t half bad when it’s essentially a wireless version of the $39 HDMI cable, though less portable, not available worldwide and with a bit more lag.
