Good and EVOSoftware Updates

Sprint confirms Gingerbread update for HTC EVO 4G will be available tomorrow

Evo-gingerbread-sprint-official

Sprint has just confirmed the accuracy and legitimacy of yesterday's leak by announcing that the much anticipated Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) update for the HTC EVO 4G will be available beginning tomorrow.

The OTA update will be pushed out to EVOs across the country on Monday, but anyone eager to ditch cold Froyo for warm Gingerbread can do so manually tomorrow by tapping Menu > Settings > System updates > HTC software update. According to the leaked document, the official software is numbered 4.22.651.2; the test build leaked in April was an older version numbered 4.21.651.1, so what's coming tomorrow is indeed newer, and I assume that most of the kinks (like Novatec screens being locked to max brightness) have been worked out.

[Sprint] Thanks, Arthur T!
