Uninstalled bloatware on HTC EVO 3D hidden, not removed?

Wheres-waldo1 One of the first things that many people did on their HTC EVO 3D was to remove the bloatware. For the first time ever, Sprint is allowing its customers to uninstall Nascar and other unwanted apps, a task that normally requires root access.

But are uninstalled apps really being removed?

Not according to G&E reader Zaraki, who installed a third-party task manager and discovered that Gameloft's 3D Games app/shortcut, which had already been uninstalled, was still running in the background. The app was not shown in HTC's preloaded task manager.

I did some additional digging and noticed that the bloatware I've uninstalled on my EVO 3D is actually all still in /system/app; none of it is listed in my app drawer or Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All, but it seems that it's still on my phone.

Anyone have any insight on this?
