Unlock with WiFi disables Dell Streak passwords at home

Unlock-with-wifi Many of you Dell Streak users prefer to trade convenience for security by locking your devices up tight with passcodes, PINs, and patterns. While this keeps would-be intruders out of your beloved Streak, it also requires you to identify yourself by entering your secret password every time the phone's screen goes dim. What a pain!

Fortunately, a new app called Unlock with Wifi by developer Ben Hirashima can get you into your Streak more quickly without eliminating the security a passcode brings.

When you connect to your home WiFi network, or any other wireless network you add to the app's queue, Unlock with WiFi disables your passcode or pattern until you become disconnected from the network. This means that since you're in no danger of getting your Streak lost or stolen at your own home, the app eliminates the security until you need it again. It does require you to enter the passcode upon connecting, however, to ensure that a geeky thief hasn't simply followed you home and activated your device on your own WiFi network.

Unlock with WiFi sells for $3.99 on the Android Market, with a free version available there too.
