BlackBerry AppPlayer shows what Android does for BlackBerry

Congratulations RIM! You’re undermining how relevant your new PlayBook should be.

The Android App Player was leaked yesterday, and the guys over at CrackBerry were able to get their hands on it. It’s fairly bare bones at this point, but it basically ports Android over to the PlayBook as a standalone application, as oppose to dual booting your system. It’s running Gingerbread, which is actually pretty comical considering over 80% of Android phones haven’t been updated to the new firmware, but the PlayBook might have it sooner than most Android owners. It’s still a little unnerving seeing Android being promoted by RIM, a competing company. But then again, maybe it’s just nice for PlayBook owners to have some sort of email client on their tablets.
