Droid 3 is one day old, already kind of disappointing

Droid-handcuffs

Remember yesterday when that Motorola Droid 3 was officially announced? We knew the specs and everything, but we didn't know the pricing or specifics about the software. Well, now we know both of those things, and the former is quite alright; the latter, though. . .

Let's get the bad news out of the way first, shall we? The bootloader is still locked. That means you're gonna have one heck of a hard time trying to root this sucker. It also means you're going to be stuck with MOTOBLUR unless you install a third-party launcher like ADW.Launcher or LauncherPro.

On the brighter side, the Droid 3 is only $199 on contract, which is pretty competitive with other 3G smartphones from Big Red. Just remember that you'll be able to pick up your latest addition to the Droid family next week Thursday, July 14th.
