Good and EVO

End of life coming this fall for HTC EVO 4G

It's a sad day here at G&E. According to a leaked screenshot, the HTC EVO 4G line will be phased out this fall.

Beginning in September, Sprint will stop ordering the white EVO 4G, with orders for the original black EVO 4G ceasing in October. Customers with insurance who need replacement devices after these dates will receive a comparable device if a refurbished EVO 4G is not in stock. In most cases, this will probably be the EVO 3D, which is actually a significant upgrade to the original EVO.

While this does signal the end of an era in which HTC paved the way for other superphones to follow in the footsteps of the EVO 4G, you can rest easy knowing that G&E will continue to cover the EVO 4G for the foreseeable future.

I guess that all good things must come to an end, but look on the bright side: phasing out the original EVO 4G will only make room for something even better. I can't wait to see what Sprint might have up its sleeves for next year!
