HTC EVO View 4G supports Netflix out of the box

Netflix-evo-view One of the lesser known enhancements brought to the HTC EVO View 4G by last week's OTA update to Gingerbread 2.3.4 is Netflix compatibility.

While it's easy enough to coax Netflix into playing nicely with an Android phone that isn't on its "official" list of supported devices—hello, HTC EVO 3D—View users can simply visit the Market and download it. In fact, the EVO View 4G happens to be the first Android tablet with built-in support for the video streaming app.

That's pretty compelling for non-techie users who don't know what an .apk is, much less where to find one that would work on the View. Even though HTC Watch is preloaded and Flash makes it possible to watch many videos online, native Netflix support definitely gives the 7-inch EVO bragging rights over some of its competition.

It also keeps that whole "firsts" tradition going.
