Kickstarter spotlight: Tech-Sync home automation for Android and iOS

This Kickstarter project is a bit out of the ordinary. Instead of a another slightly more clever case, stylus or stand design, we have a home automation system for iOS, Android and computer OSes. The project promises a set of light switches and power outlets that you|ll simpy put in your wall to replace the current ones and gain wireless remote control of said socket through WiFi. The impressive thing about the project is the cost of the final products, where a $20 pledge will give you one each of the light switch and power socket. Since these will use 120V and have US sockets, the project is only for Americans for now.

Though I would be a bit worried about the low price being reflected in the quality (and causing fires), I do hope they succeed and get the product to market. Their very low pledge goal of $2000 has already been met with 26 days to go, but the lack of a prototype demonstration in the appeal video has me worried that they’re selling an idea and hoping it can be realized. I guess we’ll find out.
