Sprint Summer Showdown presented by HTC EVO 3D gives NASCAR drivers chance to split $3 million

Sprint showdown

Any NASCAR fans out there? Yesterday Sprint announced the Sprint Summer Showdown presented by our favorite 3D phone, the HTC EVO 3D.

The carrier is hoping to add some excitement to the final stretch of this year's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. There will be six races and at the end of the challenge, the winning driver will share a $3 million purse with a charity of their choice and one lucky fan.

Feel like winning a million dollars? Me too! Want to make the deal sweeter? If you are one of the fans chosen to go to the final race of the Showdown, you receive an all expenses paid trip to Atlanta, GA to watch the AdvoCare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on September 4th.

To figure out how the promotion works and where to enter, continue reading. Or, if you don't want to win a million dollars, you can stop now (I guess).

Glad to see you decided to keep reading! The 6 races in the Showdown are (all times EDT):

Nscs

  • Jul 31, 1PM – Indianapolis Motor Speedway
  • Aug 7, 1PM – Pocono Raceway
  • Aug 14, 1PM – Watkins Glen Int'l
  • Aug 21, 1PM – Michigan Int'l Speedway
  • Aug 27, 7:30PM – Bristol Motor Speedway
  • Sep 4, 7:30PM – Atlanta Motor Speedway

"How does this promotion work, Sam?"

Easy. Any driver who wins one of the five NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events between the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway will become a finalist for the final race at Atlanta. If one of the finalists wins at Atlanta, the driver, the driver's charity, and one lucky fan each receive $1 million.

Pretty sweet deal, huh?

"But how do I enter, Sam?"

Again, easy. Fans can enter each week by going to sprint.com/speed or visiting the Sprint Experiece display at any NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event. Every week, leading up to the final week, one lucky fan (who correctly chose the winning driver) will be selected to represent that driver at Atlanta on September 4th.

You may be wondering why this is on G&E. Well, if you love the EVO like I do, this quote from Sprint's director of sports marketing, Tim Considine, will tell you:

"The HTC EVO 3D, the first wireless device that can capture and play back 3D images and video without 3D glasses is changing the game in wireless, so we thought it was appropriate to get the word out with a competition-based NASCAR Sprint Cup Series promotion that changes the game for drivers and fans."

Whenever I see the EVO name being hyped up, especially by a sport that is pulling in close to 5 million viewers on a cable network, I think it's important that G&E readers know about it, especially if the story gives you the chance to win a million dollars!

I think NASCAR Sprint Cup Series point leader Carl Edwards puts it best when he says, "It's always great to win, but to make a difference in the lives of other people by doing so is why I'm excited about the Sprint Summer Showdow."

The first race is on July 31st, so be sure to make your pick. Good luck, and don't forget to follow the races using the NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile app on your HTC EVO.
